Transitional Fashion

What better excuse to revamp a tired looking wardrobe than to turn our attentions to a new season in fashion? Arguably one of the most fun seasons to dress for, the transitional period between summer and autumn deserves a wardrobe selection all of its own.
A mixture of clothes that will accommodate you should there be a last burst of warmth in September and yet protect you from the elements when it decides suddenly to rain, flip flops are out and autumnal jewelled pumps are in – as are the staple trench coats belted chicly at the waist.
If you have been keeping abreast of the fashion shows, you will know that among other things, fierce biker jackets, tartan, over-the-knee boots, oversized coats and structured tailoring are big news for autumn. To start with the basics, look effortlessly chic in a pair of the aforementioned boots.
To keep the look sophisticated go for a flat black pair – go to Miu Miu for inspiration – or brave the look by teaming heels - we love this Halston pair (available at Net-a-Porter) - with a thick pair of black tights and a chic black dress. Or, over tight jeans the look will be fabulous with a simple t-shirt and jacket.
Black, never too far from fashion’s favour, is back again and this time it means business. Everyone from Balenciaga (below) and Prada (pictured above) to YSL brought the LBD up to date with some serious architecture – cinched waists, jutting hips and shoulders, or sophisticated materials, lace and ruffles are going to be everywhere.
Remember, less is more this season – make sure your wardrobes follow suit..
